Gaining valuable hands-on experience
During my internship, I gained valuable experience in several key areas crucial for athletic program management. I assisted with travel planning and program upgrades, which provided me with a deep understanding of the detailed coordination required to ensure programs run smoothly and efficiently.
Developing new programs and financial acumen
A significant part of my role involved developing the girls’ flag football program. This included extensive research, meticulous planning, and active participation in budgeting discussions. This experience was instrumental in helping me understand the intricate process of building and sustaining new programs from the ground up.
Cultivating essential career skills
My involvement in budgeting conversations was one of my biggest areas of growth, significantly enhancing my understanding of financial decision-making and resource allocation. Through these experiences, I developed crucial skills in communication, leadership, organization, and problem-solving. I also strengthened my ability to think beyond my own program, gaining a broader perspective of the entire athletic department. This internship confirmed my aspiration to move into administration and continue growing in leadership roles.
